It's My Life

STUDENTS WILL...

In this unit, students write autobiographies and illustrate them in a wiki. Music is a powerful tool to evoke emotion, and students will carefully select songs to accompany the stories from their lives. Students brainstorm lists of important events in their lives, along with images and music that represent those events. They then create storyboards in preparation for the final Wiki project. After making revisions, they present their final projects to their peers in class. Students will also comment on classmate's autobiographies in his/her wiki.

ASSIGNMENT OUTLINE...

  1. Select five important events in your life. Write a short summary about each one. The summaries will be used to create your Wiki audiovisual autobiography.
  2. At home, select pictures and music you would like to insert into your wiki. You can upload pictures and music to your wiki from home or the library.
  3. Create your wiki:
    • For each important event you will include:
      • Title: Each important event must have a title. For example, WHEN I WAS BORN, ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, MY SUMMER VACATION, etc.
      • Picture: Pictures must relate to event.
      • Summary of Event: Write a short paragraph about the event.
4. After all the autobiographies have been shown in class, respond to your peers’ presentations in writing.
